As we arrived the night and the crowd were already in full swing. The supporting DJ, also playing breaks had amazing track selection which definitely helped bring the crowd to the floor. By the time Plump DJ’s were ready to take over the club was packed and rammed with no room to move. As the temperature rised there was a quick change from Serato to an extra 4 CDJ 1000’s the Plump DJ’s were ready to rock the venue.
There was no real introduction to their set which was a little disappointing. I was expecting more of an introduction from such big and professional DJ’s. However this disappointment was short lived once they dropped their first couple of tracks. The crowd went nuts and there was an electric atmosphere that filled the place within minutes. I was anticipating just a standard 1 hour set. After an hour passed I was adamant they were playing their last track as every tune had the crowd on their feet raving like mad and wanting more.
Half an hour after I expected the Plump DJ’s finishing, they were still going strong and had not lost any of the crowd’s interest. I found this quite puzzling as their crowd interaction was pretty much non-existent. Other than a few shout outs to the crowd they were100% focused on the mixing. This was not entirely a bad situation as they played one of the best break beat sets I have heard in a long time.
Overall the atmosphere in the club was second to none. The venue filled the maximum capacity of 400 – 500 people and there was no intentions of letting those numbers drop. There was a happy vibe filling the place with very little or no trouble at all other than the usual hyped up crowd getting a bit too lively. This is to be expected from such big names as the Plump DJ’s.
This night well deserves a good 8 possibly 9 out of 10.
