UniFest Brighton ’09 @ Sussex University
Following the massive success of Uni-Versal Links previous event at The Cube, featuring acts: Chase & Status and Pendulum DJ El Hornet, this event promised to be bigger and better.
As the festival season comes around again there’s nothing better than a great D&B/Dubstep line-up to wet your appetite, check this:

Running the Uni-versal Links tent, which I would say was the place to be for this event! Throughout the day the audience grew and grew, and by the time the sun was down N-Type was mixing one of the best Dubstep sets I’ve heard to date. When he dropped Skream’s anthemic remix of La Roux – In for a Kill it brought the audience to their knee’s. Although the sound system was lacking in sub frequencies, the power of the vocal was still felt by the thousand strong crowd.
Next steps up the one they call ‘the executioner’ (Andy C), throwing a CDJ 1000 aside to make room for his fast paced three deck mixing madness. There is no questioning why this man has dominated the jungle / drum & bass scene for over 15 years, as his set was once again flawless, with tight mixing and a highly energetic flow throughout.
Once again at a Uni-versal Links event the security had a hard time keeping the crowd back, as the barrier between the crowd and stage was in danger of collapsing, but with event staff quick on the case Andy C quickly resumed mixing, after briefly being put on hold.
Unfortunately once again a student event was abruptly brought to an end, with the crowd screaming “One more tune!”
