Southampton’s most regular drum & bass night never disappoints, and this was no exception.

With a much needed improvement to the sound system in the second room, the Dubstep fans were catered for. The SUSU DJ Society hosted a night of Dubstep and UK Garage, keeping things on a darker tip. For the first hour or two this was the most popular room, while the early-birds got their drinks in and warmed up at a lower tempo.

The main room took a while to get going, but with the resident Raygun DJ’s playing on rotation the dance-floor was soon occupied. With a mixture of styles covering the Drum & Bass spectrum, there was something to get everyone excited. While tracks such as Spor’s ‘Aztec’ built the vibe on the dance-floor, the crowd continued to grow.

As High Contrast stepped up to play his first record, the crowd showed their appreciation for one of the scenes biggest names. Opening his set with his very own remix of La Roux’s ‘In For The Kill’, the remix king gave the crowd exactly what they wanted, over an hour’s worth of dance-floor anthems, including many of his own productions and remixes.

1 o’clock saw the long awaited arrival of Ram Records producer Sub Focus. IC3 made the microphone his own, and his lyrical content complimented a very energetic set, consisting of a variety of Sub Focus anthems alongside some Ram classics and more jump-up madness.

Again the abrupt end to a night at The Cube was the only real down-fall. It was a night well worth the entrance fee, with a pleasant, trouble-free student drum & bass vibe.
