Rocksteddy started mixing Drum n' Bass 6 years ago in late 2003, after quickly learning the basics he immersed himself in buying records and practicing mixing. He found something lacking in the current Dn'B sounds and so delved back in time and began mixing Jungle.
The fusion of Reggae vibes and Amen breaks were what appealed to Rocksteddy and this aided him to stand out from other local DJ's who were all playing similar selections. People rated this change and he began playing at party's and got his first club gig at Rhino thanks to Nightflight Promotions.
However, whilst Jungle was better then Up-Front Dn'B, he was introduced to Dubstep in 2006 and that was all it took for him to switch his style. The Reggae and Dub influences in Dubstep along with modern production techniques made it impossible to resist. He quickly began making mixtapes and linking the right people within the scene to get bookings.
Being a Southampton local meant he knew all the right people and was able to get residencies for Short Circuit @ Rhino, Subset @ The Soul Cellar and even started playing in Bournemouth for the renowned Enter promotions. Rocksteddy recently enjoyed playing a main room Dubstep set @ Enter on the Function-One sound system at Dusk Til Dawn.
Alongside Dubstep, Rocksteddy started building a collection of Dubwise music to play in Bars. He got invited to play Dub influenced music downstairs @ The Soul Cellar by Raygun Youth and Subculture who's Intelligent Liquid Dn'B line-ups needed a complimentary sound for people to chill to in Room 2. These sets included everything from Dub, Reggae, Hip-Hop, Leftfield, Dubstep & Jungle.
Having just finished an Illustration course at University Rocksteddy now has more time to focus on his musical ambitions. Recently gaining a residency with Raygun Youth this is going to be a huge year for Rocksteddy. He has aspirations of music production in the pipe-line and wants to combine an Illustrative and Musical attack with aims to unify Southampton's fragmented Underground Scenes.
