Loefah and Sgt. Pokes- Wax
Rhino

With a little imagination, this Wednesday’s Wax could have been seen as any good Dubstep track; starting off slowly, each of the seven early bird ravers could have been a single beat, gradually increasing in volume and building anticipation. Then came the first drop, DJ Rocksteady.

His set included samples from every area of the Dubstep spectrum, throughout the ravers continued to increase. While there was a deep, mellow vibe in the early stages of the set, Rocksteady ended with banging tunes that got the crowd jumping. The night’s mid-section had set the pace and made way for the headlining crescendo.

Loefah started his set with Lil’ Wayne’s ‘A Millie’, which he mixed into Dead Prez’s ‘Hip Hop’ then the beats truly started to roll. Tune after tune caused the now full club to dance continuously, the onslaught of tunes was like a drill with drill Sergeant Pokes requesting the crowd to: “Raise your glass raise your hand!” By the end of the set the tunes were so ruff and ready that Sgt. Pokes commented “What we picked up from the car park outside on the floor…lots of stones and gravel!”
