Raygun Youth presents Hatcha & Crazy D @ Soul Cellar (20/11/09)…

Southampton’s leading live music venue hosted the two names at the forefront of the Dubstep scene, Kiss 100’s DJ Hatcha and MC Crazy D. With support from Raygun’s resident DJs and MCs, this was one of the most talked about events in Southampton. With a well-engineered sound system and spectacular laser display, it lived up to expectations.

The night was warming up nicely before Hatcha stepped up. Opening his set with Skream’s ‘In For The Kill’ remix, he quickly got to business, dropping an array dirty basslines. Jakes’ ‘Rock The Bells’ and Caspa’s ‘Terminator VIP’ were just a couple of the many anthems on show over the course of the hour, as Crazy D kept the crowd involved.

The Croydon-based duo ended a hectic set with ‘Eastern Jam VIP’, making way for two hours of drum & bass.

The first of those was provided by Southampton’s very own DJ Gerra. Another flawless set from the Underground-music artist lifted the tempo, and raised the atmosphere. From the first track, Break’s ‘Last Chance remix’ featuring Kyo, Gerra kept the vibe rolling with a selection of warm basslines, and some sophisticated mixing. Tracks including ‘Now It’s Going’ by Break, ‘Spartan’ by Icicle and ‘The Four Points’ by Spectrasoul featuring Kenny Knots, created hype on the dance floor.

With the cancellation of Mistabishi (for reasons best known to himself), it was up to Raygun’s resident DJ Stone to play-out the last hour. Ending the night with a more jump-up approach he left the ravers going home satisfied.
