With two teams busy tonight on the South coast and two of the most talented dnb DJ’s booked for two extremely respected club nights, we knew these were going to be showcase events for both promoters.
Im sure most of you are aware of Whitey & co’s ‘Enter’ shows in Bournemouth and Southampton, the big players in the game are always showing high praise be it on Facebook, Twitter, in print media or interviews.
Tonight Dusk Till Dawn in Bournemouth was the venue for Andy C and MC GQ, also the select choice over Friction in Southampton for myself and my photographer. The day of the event would of made any promoter nervous with stormy conditions that contained torrential rain, hail and gigantic cracks of thunder. However come 9pm the sky cleared and the rain blew over. We rolled up to the club spot on 11pm to find Whitey at the decks with a keen following, skanking on the front barrier. The club was made up of two levels. The main room being the basement which was dark down near to the booth and well lit at the other end with the bar. Upstairs there was dub step all night but people seemed to use this more as a relaxing welcome room, not to mention another bar which would often help to get served quicker. Drinks prices were fair and you wouldn’t find yourself waiting more than a couple of minutes to get served.
This was an extra special night for Dusk Till Dawn as not only did they have the biggest DJ in drum and bass booked but they also had a brand new system installed that day! Let me put it to you this way, it was loud and not only were the highs dealt with well but the bass was delivered exceptionally. If anything the system was cranked a bit too much but you have to test that system for the first time right? and who better to test it!
Whitey played a set that teased the crowd yet introduced them to some of the latest tunes to hit the scene. As well as a good selection Whitey delivers a professional standard, most will argue that Whitey should be bigger than what he is right now including us, however he is focusing on promotion for Enter and building up the scene his way.
Andy rolled in 30 minutes late which always seems to heighten the anticipation for the crowd, this was also helped by Whitey dropping some big tunes as Andy made his way to the decks to set up. If you don’t know about an Andy C intro well this is what was about to go down and everyone inside the basement knew about it!
What followed his intro was a well paced set with some new promos to keep the exclusive vibes flowing throughout. When Andy plays a two hour set just like tonight you get a closer insight to what the man himself and the label both have in the way of a selection. Any crate diggers dream for a dnb fan is exactly what Andy drops and you really do get to see this to a much larger extent with his longer sets. (Hold tight for his 3hr set @ Matter in feb 2010). GQ kept the crowd entertained with lots of interaction as well as tight bars that you always expect. Last time we saw Andy C at the decks GQ was AWOL and it was good to see the duo back tearing up the dance floor and turning rampant ravers into sweaty skankers. Half way through Andy’s set the low ceiling had accumulated dripping patches from the heat of the rave.
Our tune of the night was : Adam F, ft Redman - ‘Shut The Lights Off’

Crowd tune of the night : Alex Reece - Pulp Fiction - Lynx Remix
Overal verdict: What a night, will be back in Bournemouth for the home of Enters nights again very soon. Enter - promoters that put on nights like tonight for a rep rather than to take home the physical profit, giving more than just music to the scene they are supporting the foundations on the south coast for dnb.
